Frog Nail Art Is the Coolest Animal-Print Trend for Summer — Manicure Ideas
If we nail-art fanatics love one thing above all else, it’s animal prints. Leopard, tortoiseshell, and crocodile nail art have all become trendy in the past year — but let me make a case for something else: frog nails. I’m not talking about the kinds of frogs you’re likely picturing right now (the spotty green ones with bumps all over). I’m talking about tropical ones, like poison dart frogs. They can have spots, splotches, and even stripes — in all sorts of bright colors (primarily red, yellow, orange, blue, and green). Translate that to nail art, and you’ve got yourself a manicure that equal parts vivid, edgy, and unique.
Some of Instagram’s most creative nail artists have taken the wild and colorful patterns of these frogs and transformed them into some super vibrant manicures. It’s not a full-blown trend just yet, but I’m here to show you why it should be. Below are just a few of our favorite takes on frog-inspired nail art. Save them for later, because you never know when a trend like this will skyrocket.
Nails artist @fleuryrosenails combines the colors of a blue poison dart frog with the nail-art techniques used for tortoiseshell manicures. Splotches of black and royal blue sit on top of a light-blue jelly polish base in this vibrant manicure.
The base colors that fade from red-orange to teal is what makes this nail-art by @good_girl_ck so much fun. And its seemingly random dots and squiggly lines give it an uncanny resemblance to a strawberry poison dart frog.
Some poison dart frogs have black and neon green stripes just like this nail art by @kate.studios, who proves just how versatile a frog-inspired manicure can be. If that’s not your vibe, swipe through her slideshow above to see a spotted pink iteration.
With this set of press-on talons, @prettypolished_byemily showcases four different takes on frog-inspired nail art. No matter what colors or patterns you prefer, there’s a frog-inspired print for you, as evidenced by their post above.
Another take on the blue poison dart frog, this nail-art by @fresh.claws offers a simpler (and easier) take on frog nail-art. With a base that fades between two slightly different blue nail polish shades, all this manicure requires is a few black splotches with a dotting tool, brush, or bobby pin.
